"Scenic Viewpoint"
8x8 in Oil on Museum Quality Panel
$350
This is a painting of my daughter Alexa's first car. It had been covered and parked in a barn for several years before she bought it. This old Studebaker Lark still has the original interior intact, including the old school radio and handles to roll the windows up and down (which also happens to be the "air-conditioning").
This was Alexa's pride and joy, she even bought a minty green sundress to match! She putted around town leaving a little trail of smoke puffing behind her and smiled every time she tooted the horn, which was actually more of a deep fog horn blast than a toot. She also discovered how old this car really was when she tried to take it through the automated car wash for the first (and last) time. As leaks were springing up everywhere she was sprawled out trying to cover them with her hands and feet. : )
Another first (and last) time was when I ventured to take the ol' Stude down to town from our home up in the mountains... btw did I mention the brakes?? I was seeing my life flash before my eyes with every turn and corner as the brakes were squished all the way to the floor..there was some serious prayer going on for the entire 10 miles!
So Alexa moved out and is now living in downtown Seattle. Her little old Studebaker was left behind..a few years of snow have come and gone, a little rust has accumulated but he waits patiently for her to one day return and take him out for one more spin before they say goodbye. *
*If anyone is interested, we have a Studebaker for sale. ; )
